Amos and Mary Miamen
Amos and Mary served the Lord together in the interior of Liberia planting and pastoring churches among their own people. Eventually, Amos attended African Bible College in Yekepa, Liberia. While there, he was recruited by Frank Tichy to become a traveling secretary for Scripture Union. He visited high school campuses in Liberia encouraging Christian students and participating in evangelistic outreaches.
BFC first connected with the Miamens when the church helped Amos get to the Billy Graham Congress on Evangelism in Amsterdam. After this, Amos was accepted for study at Wheaton College where he earned a Master’s Degree. He went on to the University of Illinois and completed work for a Doctorate in International Studies. His thesis was written on matters related to restoration of Christian communities in post war Liberia.
While in the States Amos and Mary have planted two churches for Liberians, primarily, and other Africans residing in the Chicago area. They continue to participate in the life of the church in Liberia by making short-term trips to their homeland. Their long range goal is to return to Liberia and continue full time with the work God is preparing for them.
The Miamens have toner daughter, Eunice, and two sons, Enoch and Cornelius. They have one grandchild.
