Bill and Maggie Farmer
Bill & Maggie Farmer started their Missionary service in 1974 when they joined Navajo Gospel Mission. They moved from Hemet to the Navajo reservation in northern Arizona. Two years later, the Lord moved them to Northern British Columbia where they served among the Carrier Indians, who are cousins to the Navajos linguistically. Serving in the north for 25 years, Bill and Maggie were involved in church planting, field administration and managing a missionary training program with UIM International.
Eight years ago Bill was diagnosed with Asthma. When his breathing problems continued to worsen, the doctors advised him to move to a warmer climate. After making the difficult decision to leave BC in 2002 the Lord led them to Charlotte, NC to serve with SIM Ethnic Focus Ministry.
Bill and Maggie enjoy teaching English as a second language and building relationships with international people. In addition to Evangelism and Discipleship, their ministry also includes Church Mentoring through training programs to help churches establish their own cross-cultural ministry; as well as partnering with existing Ethnic Churches to provide support, leadership training, and teaching resources.
A key verse for Ethnic Focus Ministry is Acts 17:26-27: “and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on the face of the earth having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God.”
